A LETTER FROM THE TEACHER
I’m so excited that the Creative Writing students of the Iron Mountain Homeschool Partnership have had this wonderful opportunity to go through the process of writing stories, submitting them to Starspun, making edits, and seeing their final work published. Most kids their age don’t get to experience this. I’m so proud of each of them for what they have accomplished here, and know that this is only the beginning of their successes to come.

THE TREE WITH NO END
by ANDREW VAN SICKLE JR.
10-13 YEARS
“It is no myth, my son.”
“How do you know?”
“Because, Stroth, I have seen it. It stands in the center of a thick stone wall, stretching to the heavens. And they say that at the very top, you will find the Queen of Birds, the magnificent Swan of Sweld. Since the world began she has dwelt there, guarding a sack of gold so huge it would take ten men to lift it."

FLEETING MEMORIES
by AVA ROBERTS
14-16 YEARS
They are well familiar with the sound of suffocating silence, but the silence of night is much more soothing to them. When they were captive, they never had the privilege of going out to bask in the twilight, taking in the shimmering stars and the glowing moon, which reflects its soft light, touching every part of their home, except for the places the shadows steal away.

SATURN'S SECRET CITY
by ADDISON STRONG
6-9 YEARS
Isaac shut his eyes just in time for an incredible burst of light and energy to fill the space. When he opened his eyes, he was unable to put the words together to explain what he saw. He looked around him and with a sudden realization, figured out that he was hovering above the rocky ground of Saturn.

THE SCOURGE OF THE KEEPERS' GARDEN
by CORRIN GRUNLUND
10-13 YEARS
“Come at me, ye villain! Ye call that a jump? Oy now—keep those chompers to yerself!”
Flitting madly along the wide Garden trail, Sunsprite burst into view. Butter-yellow petals protruded randomly from her arms, and below her a young rabbit dashed as if possessed, leaping up to nip at the air with squarish teeth.
